Crayons, paper, erasers…oh my! It’s back-to-school time and that means school supplies for teachers and students.
Did you know Texas agriculture is the source of many school supplies?
Take East Texas timber growers. With their help, schools and classrooms will be filled with textbooks, notebooks, loose-leaf paper, pencils, rulers and more.
Make a mistake and need to erase? A soybean farmer has you covered! Those soybean farmers also help us get our paint, and corn farmers help us get the colorful crayons. Let the art drawings commence!
But the most important part of back-to-school is the outfit on the first day. Whether you’re dressing to impress or going for comfort, those clothing items are grown by cotton farmers like Daniel Gavronovic. Jeans, t-shirts, socks and shorts all get their start on a cotton farm. And Texas is ranked number one in cotton production nationwide.
Healthy, filling meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner are part of the school routine. Check out some of our breakfast favorites like Weekday Waffles, Energy Bites and Upside Down Breakfast Stackers. And if you like PB&J sandwiches, those peanuts might have been grown by Texas farmers, too!
Summer was here one day. And gone the next! As you start that back-to-school shopping, remember a farm or ranch family is behind the supplies your kids take to class. And cheers to another successful school year!
Justin,
