Earlier this week I wrote about some of our family holiday traditions. One of my mom’s and my favorite traditions is making all kinds of treats—all sorts of cookies, candies and other tasty confections—for family and friends. To go along with those treats, I found a great slow cooker recipe for Holiday Hot Chocolate.
The best thing about this recipe is you can get it started and walk away—which means more time enjoying the holidays with those family members and friends.
For Holiday Hot Chocolate, you will need:
2/3 cup white sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 tsp. salt
6 cups milk, divided
1-1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 cups half & half
2 oz. (2 squares) bittersweet chocolate
2 oz. (2 squares) white chocolate
First, set your slow cooker to low heat and gather your ingredients. After rounding up your ingredients, mix together the sugar, cocoa, salt and 1 cup of milk in a medium mixing bowl.
Beat until smooth. I find it blends easier if I use a wooden spoon, rather than a whisk. You also could try using an hand or stand mixer.
Add the mixture, the remaining milk and vanilla to your slow cooker. Cook on low heat for two hours, stirring occassionally.
Add cream. Cover and cook on low heat for 10 minutes. Stir in bittersweet and white chocolate squares until melted.
Top with marshmallows or whipped cream, and enjoy with your favorite holiday treat.
With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season in full swing, we want to pause and wish you all a very merry Christmas. From all of us at Texas Table Top, enjoy!
