Do you feel the chill in the air? I believe fall has finally arrived in Central Texas and just in time for Halloween festivities.

This time of year makes me think of apples. Maybe it’s because of Caramel Apples or from memories of bobbing for them at Halloween parties.

Along with the trick or treating, there are always other activities, too. This year, we have a couple of parties to attend, as well as a Trunk-or-Treat. That means I’ll need a snack or sweet treat to share with our friends and neighbors.

So, I thought this week would be a great opportunity to share a quick and easy dip that’s great with crisp apple slices.

For Pecan Caramel Dip, you will need…Ingredients
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
1 c. marshmallow fluff
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. pecans, chopped
1/4 c. caramel sauce
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
apple slices for dipping

You might not know this, but we do grow apples in Texas. Now, it isn’t as big of a crop as cotton or corn, but there are plenty of orchards sprinkled across the state. Some of them will even let you come out and pick your own. And this dip lets me add pecans, too!

Start by mixing together the cream cheese, marshmallow fluff and caramel until fluffy.
Step1

Add in the brown sugar, vanilla and salt and mix until the texture begins to smooth.
Step2

Now you’re going to fold in the pecans. You can serve this right away, but I find the flavors are better if you cover and refrigerate for a few hours.
Steph3

Once the dip is chilled, transfer it to a serving dish and drizzle with additional caramel and a few pecans for garnish. Serve with your favorite variety of fresh apple slices.
Step4

This is a fun and easy treat for any fall party, and it’s a great way to get your daily fruit intake, too. Enjoy your Halloween festivities! From all of us at Texas Table Top, enjoy!
