Here in Texas, we love a good fried meal, especially fried chicken. But the mess it makes can sometimes take the fun out of being in the kitchen.

That’s why I’m sharing a secret—how to make crispy chicken in the oven! Without the mess! And it’s a quicker, lighter version of the traditional favorite.

It’s sure to be a crowd favorite. I know it is in my house!

For Oven-Fried Chicken, you will need…Oven-Fried-Chicken
3-1/2 lbs. chicken pieces
1 c. corn flakes
3/4 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. flour
1/4 c. butter
1 tsp. paprika
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper

This oven-fried chicken recipe replaces the grease and leaves juicy, flavorful chicken in its place. Leaving you more time with family and friends and less to prep and clean up.

Start by preheating your oven to 425 degrees. Pour the buttermilk over the chicken pieces in a shallow dish. While the oven is preheating, melt the butter in the bottom of a 9×13 baking dish by simply placing it in the oven. You should also go ahead and crush up your corn flakes in a gallon plastic bag. Add the remaining dry ingredients to the corn flakes in the bag.

By now, your butter is probably close to being melted. Once it is, pull the dish out of the oven. Dredge each piece of chicken in the breading bag and place in the bottom of the baking dish. Continue until all of the pieces are coated in the dish.

Bake the chicken for 30 minutes and then remove from the oven and flip the pieces over.

Finally, place back in the oven for another 30 minutes before serving hot. To be sure your chicken is cooked through, check the internal temperature to make sure it reaches at least 175 degrees.

This no muss, no fuss recipe will let you enjoy family time and make a great meal. It’s wonderful served with potato salad and deviled eggs. Here’s hoping your weather is good enough to play outside. From all of us at Texas Table Top, enjoy!
