There’s just something about a nice warm cup of cocoa on a cold winter night. Rich and creamy chocolate warmed with sweet fluffy marshmallows is one of my favorite cold weather treats. It’s also something I look forward to every year.
This simple recipe serves as a way to stay warm and get your chocolate fix. The peppermint gives it a nice little punch, too.
For Peppermint Hot Chocolate Mix, you will need…
2 c. powdered sugar
2 c. powdered milk
1 c. cocoa powder
1/2 c. mini chocolate chips
1/4 c. peppermints, crushed
mini marshmallows
It’s also a wonderful gift dressed up with a cute tag and mug for friends this holiday season.
Start by sifting the powdered sugar into a large bowl.
Next, do the same with the cocoa powder on top of the sugar. Sifting these two ingredients helps make sure everything is evenly distributed in your mixture.
Stir in the powdered milk until everything is mixed well. If you are going to keep it in a big batch at home, go ahead and add the chocolate chips and peppermint.
If you are going to use it for gifts, measure out 1/2 cup of the cocoa mixture and put it in the bottom of a decorative bag. Add a thin layer of chocolate chips and then crushed peppermint. Top it with marshmallows and tie up to keep the mix dry. Decorate and gift.
Don’t forget to add this printable tag with instructions. (Click picture for printable PDF.)
To make the hot chocolate, simply pour everything into your mug and top with 1/2 cup hot water. Stir until everything is melted and your marshmallows are floating.
This is a great gift for friends, co-workers, your kid’s teachers. And it’s a great recipe for little hands to help with. Here’s to staying warm and cozy this weekend. From all of us at Texas Table Top, enjoy!
