Are you ready for the trick-or-treaters next week? I have the candy ready. But I also need a good dinner and a sweet snack so my kiddo can make it through the exciting evening!

Apples are a great way to get that sweet flavor in a healthy way. And why not dress them up to join in on the Halloween fun.

For Apple Nachos, you will need…AppleNachos
4 Granny Smith apples
1/2 c. smooth peanut butter
1/2 c. marshmallow fluff
1/4 c. mini chocolate chips
1/4 c. pecans, chopped

My favorite apple to use for this recipe is a Granny Smith because of its tart flavor. Did you know they are grown in Texas? As a matter of fact, there are quite a few varieties of apples grown just north of Dallas.

Start by washing and slicing your apples. I find a corer/slicer works great for making even slices for you to lay on your plate.

Next, mix together the peanut butter and marshmallow fluff. Heat it in the microwave for 15 seconds two to three times. Stir between each heating to make sure that it’s mixed well. Please use caution, though. This is melted sugar and can burn you.

Let the mixture cool down just a bit. Then place it in a bag to pipe it onto the apples.

After you get the peanut butter all over your apple slices, sprinkle on the chocolate chips and pecans. They won’t all stick to the peanut butter but can be added to slices as you eat away at them.

This dressed up fall treat is great all times of the year, but maybe it can help with the sugar rush for All-Hallows’ Eve. Have a safe and fun time dressing up and trick-or-treating next week. And from all of us at Texas Table Top, enjoy!
