There are three sure-fire ways to get my attention at an hors d’oeuvre table.

Number one–Food looks good.

Number two–Food tastes good. That’s always important!

And number three–difficulty level of the recipe.

It’s really that simple for me. Of course, we all strive for the first two with any recipe we make. But sometimes I get in trouble with the third. I tend to take on too much and not leave myself the necessary time to complete a recipe. That is definitely the case this time of year.

So I depend on my friends to give me some tasty, good-looking and easy-to-make recipes for holiday events.

For Cranberry Salsa, you will need…CranberrySalsa
1 bag fresh cranberries
1 c. sugar
1 bunch green onions
1 jalapeno, seeded
1/2 bunch cilantro leaves
1/4 c. lime juice

This week’s recipe came for one of the great ladies at my church. With pops of color and flavor, it’s perfect for the holiday season.

Start by rough chopping the cranberries in a food processor and move them to a large bowl.

Dice the onions, jalapenos and cilantro. Then, juice the limes and set aside.

Mix the sugar into the chopped cranberries until well coated.

Finally, stir in the vegetables and toss the whole mixture in the lime juice. Cover and refrigerate overnight to let all of the flavors marry. Serve with your favorite chips or crackers.

Seriously, this recipe takes less than five minutes to put together and will get you rave reviews for color and taste. There’s nothing better than seeing the trifecta of holiday goodness on the table.  From all of us at Texas Table Top, enjoy!
