Well, we are officially into summer. The days are longer, and the weather is certainly warmer. To be quite honest, this is usually when I pass off the cooking responsibilities to my husband so I don’t have to stand in a hot kitchen while everyone else is outside having fun.

With the 4th of July holiday coming up, and since it is falling in the middle of the week, I thought I would give him a little reprieve, though. I figured out a way for both of us to play all day without worrying about what was for supper.

For Ranch Style Pork Roast, you will need…Ranch Style Pork Roast
1 (2-4 lb.) Boston butt pork roast, bone in
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 cup milk
2 packages of powdered ranch dressing mix

You see, this is a slow cooker recipe. It is super easy to put together, and once you have taken the five minutes to prep it, you just turn your cooker on low and let it go all day long. There is little to no heat from the cooker, and no big mess to clean up. Just get it set and go have some fun!

First things, first. Season both sides of your pork roast with salt and pepper. I like using a Boston butt for this because it is a slow roast meat.

Next, combine your soups with the milk and stir in one of the ranch dressing mixes.

Then, as you are putting your roast into the slow cooker, sprinkle all sides with the remaining package of ranch dressing.

Cover the roast with the soup mixture, and cover with the lid. Turn your slow cooker on low, and let it go for six to seven hours.

And, that’s it! I like to serve this with rice or potatoes, but it could also make a yummy sandwich for a picnic. If you have something different in mind for your 4th of July festivities, you can always try out some of these other recipes:

We hope you have a safe and enjoyable Independence Day next week. From all of us at Texas Table Top, enjoy!
